Prokaryotes are organisms whose cells do not contain a nucleus or membrane bound organelles. Instead their DNA forms a circular loop and floats freely in the center of the cell"s cytoplasm. Prokaryotes are unicellular, meaning they complete all life functions within that one cell. They have simple cells because they can perform less tasks than eukaryotes. Bacteria are the only group of living things that have prokaryotic cells. They are the oldest organisms on earth.
Eukaryotic Cells
Eukaryotes are organisms whose cells do have a nucleus and membrane bound organelles that are specialized to make the organism. Eukaryotes can be unicellular or multicellular. Eukaryotes are the most complex cells because they can perform more tasks than bacteria. All other groups of living things such as protists, fungi, plants and animals all have eukaryotic cells. They are extremely diverse and vary in ways that they move, obtain nutrients, and reproduce
