Cloning: is making a genetically identical copy of DNA or an organism. It is used for things such as therapeutic cloning which uses embryonic stem cells, that can can produce all types of cells, to grow healthy tissue that could be used to replace diseased or injured tissue.
Gene Therapy: is the insertion of working gene copies into the cells of a person with a disorder. It is used to try to correct the disorder.
Recombinant DNA: is DNA that contains genes from more that one organism. It is used a lot in the food industry to insert or give the plants the desired genes.
Gel Electrophoresis: is separating and analyzing DNA fragments by placing a mixture of fragments at one of a porous gel and applying an electrical voltage to the gel. It is used for disease diagnoses.
